Book launch day is my FAVORITE day of the month because it represents SO MUCH MORE to our authors than “just” a book. It’s a key component in a longer journey from life coach, business owner, or solopreneur to DIFFERENCE MAKER.

We DO offer the best book coaching in the world, but that’s not usually where we start—we work closely with each and every one of our clients to build and optimize their own kick-ass business model FIRST.

Sound weird? Think about it—how do you know if anyone’s going to WANT to read your book if you don’t have market validation? (Friends and family members don’t count!) This is the CRITICAL step most first-time authors mess up, largely because society tells us that “if you build it, they will come” (and it’s never that simple unless you already have a huge following.

In reality, your first book needs to be TARGETED—just like your business. You need to know EXACTLY:

1. Who YOU are

2. What SPECIFIC problem you solve

3. How to find the people who HAVE that problem

Once you’ve identified those three key components, writing the book becomes SO much easier—which is a big part of the reason why all of these books were written in less than 90 days. CRAZY what a little alignment can do!

(It also makes it super easy to create a podcast, land speaking gigs, and build a “signature online course” afterward—but books are obviously MY favorite part of the equation!)

Over the course of just a fewmonths, we’ve helped each of these authors clarify their messaging, their business models, and their identities to GUARANTEE these books have an impact, and we’re thrilled that as of today they’ll begin to do so.

So let’s celebrate the launch of these books knowing that they represent just one piece of the world-changing, difference-making IMPACT these authors are sharing with their readers, followers, and clients to make the world BETTER.

THOUGHTS ON “GRIND MENTALITY”

Maybe I’m late to the party but is anyone else noticing a WHOLE lot of “Rise and Grind” worship lately?

… Because I HATE IT. And I think I hate it because it’s so often presented as the be-all, end-all. The Ideal. The ONLY option.

Sure, it doesn’t help that most of what I know about “Hustle Culture” comes from douchey bro market types. I’ll admit that even the most off-putting of that bunch can have their moments—but they absolutely LOSE me with the grind culture stuff.

These people want you to know that they’re always “on,” always pushing, and always going at 110%.

And it’s telling, I think, that they rarely seem to interrogate the WHY—as if grinding is in and of itself a thing to be valued.

So I’d love to take this moment to offer a counterpoint:

THERE IS NOTHING INHERENTLY NOBLE ABOUT SACRIFICING YOUR PERSONAL LIFE AND MENTAL HEALTH TO TOXIC PRODUCTIVITY!

I’ve seen too many coaches just accept the idea that running a business requires that same “always on” hyper-motivation all the time—but MOST HUMANS CAN’T SUSTAIN THAT! And it can be genuinely traumatizing to feel guilty any time we’re NOT grinding when that’s what so many other entrepreneurs we aspire to be like seem to be doing! Guilt STOPS us from developing the positive habits we need as thought leaders.

Now, if you’re living the grind life and it seems to be working, more power to ya (please… be careful). But I’ve helped hundreds of coaches and consultants hit six figures in their businesses and very few of them would identify as “grind types.” So it IS possible to make an impact without actually killing yourself.

Don’t get me wrong—creating and growing a successful coaching or consulting business takes a ton of learning and hard work! But there’s a difference between “grinding” and “Doing The Work,” and there’s a VERY good chance someone else has already done the hardest of that work and is eager to let you piggyback off their experience.

MAKE THAT PERSON YOUR NEXT COACH!

Take a vacation. Watch some Netflix. Spend time with your family. Outsource a task. Hire a new employee. You WILL show up better for your clients if you’re regularly taking care of yourself and re-committing to a balanced lifestyle with EVERYTHING you’ve ever wanted.

Burnout is REAL for so many of us—so “Rise and Grind” if and when it feels good to you, and don’t let anyone tell you when to punch in. <3
